Outpatient Treatments for Adults


Outpatient treatment provides assessment, evaluation, education and counseling for adults with alcohol

and other chemical dependency problems. Designed to support individuals and families in achieving a life

free from mind-altering substances. Family members are encouraged to participate whenever possible.

Treatments include:
  • Family and group counseling​

    • Relapse prevention
    • Alcohol and other drug education
    • Anger management
    • Stress reduction
    • Self-destructive behaviors
    • Coping skills
    • Improved communication
    • Relationship issues.

Outpatient Services for Youth

Outpatient treatment provides assessment, evaluation, education and counseling for youth

(ages 12-18). Parental consent is NOT required, although parental involvement is encouraged.

Designed to support youth and their families in achieving a life free from substances. The

length of treatment is based on the youth’s needs and completion of individualized treatment

goals. NO cost to youth or his/her parents.

Treatments include:
  • Individual counseling
  • Family counseling
    • Family sessions
    • Free weekly family and friends support group
  • Group counseling
    • Alcohol and other drug education
    • Relapse prevention
    • Development of a sober and healthy support network
    • Integration of recovery tools
  • Case management
  • Life skills training
  • Peer support

​Adolescent Treatment Program

The Adolescent Treatment Program provides weekly youth outpatient treatment at various sites in the

outlying areas of Sonoma County.  ATP also includes a parent component. Services are offered at NO cost

to the teen or his/her family members.

​Treatments include:
​
  • Parents engage in a weekly support group
  • Participate in individual or family counseling sessions
  • Consultation by phone with regard to their child and his/her substance use issues. 
Alternatives to Detention (A2D)

Description: 
Supported by Sonoma County Juvenile Probation, Alternatives to Detention serves youth

ages 14-17 years of age who are currently in, or at risk of being referred from, County Juvenile Probation.

Youth are engaged in both group and individual counseling services, which are client-specific. The 30-day

program
provides for 2-hour interactive group sessions (Monday through Friday at CHOPS Teen

Club/Santa Rosa or Monday through Thursday at San Antonio High School/Petaluma). Services are offered

at NO cost to the teen or his/her family members.

  • Individual counseling
  • Group sessions focused on basic knowledge about:
    • Drugs
    • Abuse and addiction
    • Criminal conduct
    • Influence of alcohol and other drugs
    • Learning communication skills
    • Relapse prevention including:
      • Identification of triggers
      • Hhigh-risk situations
      • Managing cravings and urgings
      • Coping and avoidance skills
      • Assertive skills development
      • Conflict management
      • Developing strategies to enhance self-control
    • Understanding values and moral development
    • Understanding and practicing empathy
    • Selecting a support system and/or peer group
STD Testing
  • Rapid HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV) testing (results available in 20 minutes) for any individuals age 12 and above
  • Testing is FREE and is anonymous or confidential.

Counseling
  • Risk reduction counseling for individuals and couples
  • Education regarding HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted diseases
  • Covers issues of:
    • Risk negotiation
    • Communication in relationships
    • Sexuality
    • Women and men's sexual health

Other Services
  • Distribution of free condoms/lube
  • Referrals and linkages to care
  • Overdose prevention and training
  • Naloxone Distribution Center.
